Amazon is Driving Expectations

SEATTLE—Amazon continues to influence consumer expectations, and that includes what members will expect from their credit unions.

As the retail giant has changed American’s expectations for speedy delivery and website ease—which has extended to members’ expectations around credit union service delivery—one analysis is asking whether those same expectations are now migrating into brick and mortar retail?

For example, Amazon Go, Amazon’s cashier less store concept, is ready for its move to the suburbs, USA Today reported.

The company opened a new Go store in Mill Creek, Wash., which it says will target customers living in suburban areas. Like its other Go stores, customers won't need to visit a cash register when they're ready to check out; they grab what they need and leave as a result of the technology embedded throughout the store.

Consumers access the Go stores by scanning their Amazon app, scanning their palm using Amazon One technology, or submitting a credit card. Customers can then choose between a variety of grab-and-go food items and drinks. The store is equipped with technology similar to self-driving cars that tracks what users add to their cart, then charges them once they leave the store.

Yes, FOMO is  Very Real in this Case!
