CU Offers Behind-The-Scenes Look at Movie Archives

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—First Entertainment Credit Union is offering its members-and the world—a behind-the-scenes video glimpse into the historic movie archives at Warner Brothers Studios.

The video is part of a transition by First Entertainment, which, as its name implies, serves Hollywood’s entertainment industry, to broaden its member newsletter “the Show” from print into digital media.

Warner Bros. Studios archivist Bonnie.

Not surprisingly, the members First Entertainment features in its newsletters have more exciting stories to tell than the average credit union’s. Since it launched the Show in 2004, the credit union has profiled the well-known, such as Quincy Jones and Curtis Armstrong, to the less well-known, such as Ve Neil, who won three academy awards for make-up in Pirates of the Caribbean, to dozens of others with stories just as interesting and entertaining.

Earlier this year First Entertainment began shooting video of each person it profiled as it transitions to more digital media. The result of all that is firstenttheshow.com, and one of the first people to be featured is Bonnie, who oversees the historic archives at WarnerBros., which contain movie treasures as far back as the classic Casablanca all the way through to the Matrix series and the Harry Potter movies. Assets from Warner Bros. TV shows are also stored here including such sets from Friends and Seinfeld.

With permission granted by the movie studio, Bonnie, a long-time member of First Entertainment, gives a tour of the 120,000-square-foot warehouse, where there is more movie history than the video can possibly capture.

“The goal of these profiles has always been to share with the entire membership the unique job or talents or story that the member who is being profiled has and sometimes we find some really interesting people with very unique jobs within the entertainment industry,” said Roy MacKinnon, vice president-marketing, with First Entertainment.  “This is by far one of the more unique jobs and interesting profiles we have ever done.”
