DALLAS–Southwest Airlines FCU has named a new CEO to succeed the retired Charles (Chuck) Rutan. The credit union has selected Cynde Jones to lead the organization.
Jones joined Southwest Airlines FCU in 1996 as member services supervisor and has held multiple management positions in the last 23 years, 11 of which she served as executive vice president.
According to the credit union, Jones’ focus will be on continued growth, financial stability, and expanded technologies, along with additional products and services.
Rutan served as CEO of the $588-million Southwest Airlines FCU since April 2008. During his tenure, he played a critical role in the overall growth of the credit union while bringing on new technologies as well as products and services for members, the Cornerstone Credit Union League said. Some of the highlights include the implementation of a 4% Rewards Checking Account, mobile banking, online loan applications, remote deposit transactions, and CO-OP Shared Branching—all to help members conduct business across the country.
A retirement party with the theme “Adventure Awaits” was held with food, a photo booth, and a slideshow, depicting the years Chuck was with Southwest Airlines FCU. Approximately 70 attended, including current employees, board members, former employees, and other credit union friends.
