OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Y-12 Federal Credit Union here has announced the formation and launch of their new 501c3 not-for-profit corporation.
The credit union said the “Y12 FCU Gives Foundation” was formed to extend the organization’s mission of “people helping people” into the philanthropic realm of charitable giving and support.
The goal of the Foundation is to “partner with nonprofit organizations in the communities we serve who share our core values,” according to the credit union. The primary areas of focus for the foundation will be education, health and wellness, and responding to emerging community needs. “We need to take care of the community we serve by serving the underserved,” said Y-12 FCU CEO Mark Ziegler. “We have been successful as an organization and the right thing to do is give back to the communities.”
The first two check presentations from the foundation have been made with grants to the American Cancer Society for the Making Strides against Breast Cancer fundraiser and Harbours Gate.
