Worldwide Foundation, GWLN, WYCUP All Hosting Events at Upcoming GAC

MADISON, Wis.—The Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, along with the Global Women’s Leadership Network and the World Young Professionals Network, said they will be hosting two events during the upcoming Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) hosted by America’s Credit Unions in Washington.

The foundation will host its third annual Cooperative Voices event on March 3 at the International Spy Museum.

“The fundraising event gives WFCU Champions a look into how the Bridge the Gap campaign is helping credit unions bridge gaps in four areas: digitalization, leadership, gender equality and safety,” the foundation said.

Among those who will speak at the event:

  • George Ombado of the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations and leadership from the Kenyan Ministry of Finance
  • Gail Remy Rajkumar of GWLN Trinidad and Tobago Sister Society
  • Alisa Stetsyshyn with Kostiantyn Honcharenko (Project Storm Break)
  • Tyler Valentine of StagePoint FCU

Special Guest

This foundation added the event will also feature special guest Chris Copeland from TruStage, the sponsor of Cooperative Voices, as well as an interactive activity and raffle where everyone is a winner. Attendees will have the opportunity to win several grand prizes including a 2024 World Credit Union Conference registration.

Cooperative Voices event registration closes on Feb. 25.

Luncheon to be Held

Meanwhile, the Global Women’s Leadership Network will be kicking off its 15-year anniversary celebration with the GWLN Luncheon at GAC on March 6 at the Washington Convention Center.

“Guests will hear stories from the GWLN global community, learn how members are working toward changing the numbers for women in leadership, and gain insight to the future of GWLN - forging a better, more inclusive world,” the organization said. “The luncheon at GAC engages the US credit union system with global women leaders, and this year will be welcoming guests from five continents, all working to bridge the gender gap.”

The GWLN Luncheon is presented by PSCU/Co-op Solutions.

WYCUP Presentation & Crasher

WYCUP Program Manager Ari Farrell will speak at the Filene Institute’s Crash the GAC event in Washington DC.

WYCUP noted it is also bringing their very own Crasher to GAC, Emily Alexander, from the Association of British Credit Unions, Ltd. (ABCUL).

“As the WYCUP Crasher, Alexander will be immersed in a global credit union experience, gaining valuable insights as an emerging leader in the industry,” the organization said. “Alexander will also connect with the 2024 Crash the GAC delegation which is comprised of 58 talented credit union professionals from across the United States who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the credit union movement.”
