Woman Who Posted Bomb Threat Against CU On Social Media Is Arrested

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y.— A woman here has been charged with posting a bomb threat on social media against GPO Federal Credit Union.

According to New Hartford Police, they were contacted by the credit union’s management and made aware of GPO being tagged in a Facebook post where a threat was made to blow up a branch.

The threat was posted that day and the person who did so used an alias as a Facebook account name, law enforcement officials told the Rome Sentinel.

Following the threat, GPO management placed its branches on alert and locked down the main office.

During the investigation, police said they were able to locate the account-holder of the Facebook page and later took Jazmiere Pemberton, 21, into custody.

Pemberton has been charged with one count of second-degree aggravated harassment, a class A misdemeanor. The investigation continues and additional charges are pending, police said.

Police did not say what prompted Pemberton to make the alleged threat.

The $276-million GPO FCU has approximately 31,339 members.
