With Costs on Every Driver’s Mind, Allied FCU Surprises Folks Filling Their Tanks With Gas Cards

ARLINGTON, Va.–With record high gas prices on the minds of everyone from consumers to the president of the United States, Allied FCU here distributed free gas cards at gas stations in it markets of Arlington and Mansfield.

According to the credit union, its representatives chose gas station customers at random andsurprised them with $15 gas cards to “help make their trips a little cheaper.”

Allied FCU and its employees donated more than $1,000 to pay for the gas cards as part of the credit union’s Casual for a Cause program, the CU reported.

The credit union’s Casual for a Cause program lets employees pay to dress casually at work. All proceeds go toward a different local cause each month. Allied FCU said a committee of its employees chooses the supported causes, and for May, the committee chose “Allied’s Great Gas Giveaway,” believing “this random act of kindness would give people joy during difficult financial times.”

“We live, work and shop in these communities just like everyone else, and we feel the pinch of rising prices with them. This is our way of making a difference today,” said AVP-Experience Sarah Ramos. “We hope our gas giveaway brought a smile to their faces and some relief to their wallets.”
