WASHINGTON–Congress remains out of session this week with a tentative expectation it shall return to Washington next week.
Eli Joseph, CUNA’s deputy chief advocacy officer, said the trade group has been focused on priorities it would like to see included in any phase IV stimulus package, including providing an exemption for credit unions on the member business lending cap (to which the bank trade groups have expressed strong opposition); establishing an expanded Central Liquidity Facility through at least 2021, delaying CECL until 2024, increasing the CDFI Fund, and permitting remote notarization.
Separately, CUNA’s deputy chief advocacy officer for political action, Trey Hawkins, said the association has relaunched its CreditUnionsVote.com resource.
It’s a one-stop website and tool for credit union members to confirm their voter registration, find their place to vote. request and, “importantly,” said Hawkins, get information on an early or absentee ballot.
‘Really Important Message’
“We think it’s a really important message and tool to get out there,” Hawkins said.
CUNA has launched its Member Activation Program (MAP) in support of the retooled website.
“This is a really important service credit unions can provide to their members,” added Hawkins.
