PEWAUKEE, Wis.–The board of the Wisconsin Credit Union League has voted in favor of supporting the traditional concept of dual membership in the league and CUNA.
The board has signed a Resolution of Interdependence to formalize its position.
“Our League Board’s action to support not only the interdependence of the leagues and CUNA, but also the dual membership model, is based on a firm belief that advocacy is significantly enhanced when we all work together with one focus in mind: removing barriers that limit credit unions’ ability to serve their members," said league President & CEO Brett Thompson in a statement. "The dual membership model gives us the best opportunity to be successful in that endeavor.”
The Association of American Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) is meeting this week in Orlando, where the issue of league/CUNA membership is being discussed. A number of leagues have voted in favor of giving member CUs the option of belonging to the league or CUNA, or the league and CUNA.
