ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.–Lucky members from seven credit unions, one team playing for a charitable cause, and a former NFL defensive tackle running for a local Chicago charity will have a chance to grab all they can during a 60-second shopping cart dash this holiday season.
For the fourth consecutive year, PSCU is partnering with Hinda Incentives to sponsor a sweepstakes event as part of its loyalty program. The Credit Union Magic Minute is scheduled to take place on Dec. 1, 2016 at Hinda’s rewards redemption merchandise warehouse in Chicago.
“Credit unions with robust loyalty programs are really the ones that are coming out on top in an increasingly competitive financial landscape,” said Annie Cox, VP of Loyalty Solutions for PSCU. “The Magic Minute is a fun, engaging way to encourage members to keep their credit union card top of wallet throughout the all-important holiday shopping season, in addition to being a way to increase awareness about the value of credit unions in the community.”
Credit union members from APCI Federal Credit Union (Lehigh Valley, Penn.); Baltimore County Employees FCU (Towson, Md.); Citadel FCU (Exton, Penn.); Founders FCU (Lancaster, S.C.); GTE Financial (Tampa, Fla.); Tinker Federal Credit Union (Oklahoma City), and TruMark Financial Credit Union (Fort Washington, Penn.) have been selected in random drawings held during the sweepstakes period.
Members of credit unions enrolled in PSCU’s CU Rewards loyalty programs registered their contact information on the CURewards website and used their credit or debit cards in at least three purchases in any of the weeks between June 20 and Sept. 25 to have their names entered into seven bi-weekly drawings that took place from Aug.1 to Oct. 24.
PSCU also awarded a place at the Magic Minute starting line to two employees of Fort Worth, Texas-based American Airlines Credit Union, which had the highest participation in the sweepstakes by its cardholders. The American Airlines dashers were able to choose a community initiative of their choice as the recipient of their shopping haul for the second year in a row. This year, they selected Warlick’s Warriors, which was founded to support the Answer ALS Foundation, an organization built to fund groundbreaking research efforts to end ALS for future generations. Warlick’s Warriors was created by Peter Warlick, vice president of finance for American Airlines and board member for American Airlines Credit Union.
For the first time ever, PSCU is also partnering with Anthony “Spice” Adams, a former NFL defensive tackle for the Chicago Bears, to run on behalf of SOS Children’s Villages Illinois. SOS Children's Villages builds families for children who have suffered abuse, abandonment, or neglect and supports vulnerable children in 134 countries, including the United States.
Each of the sweepstakes winners will receive an all-expense-paid trip for two to Chicago and the opportunity to pile as much top-end merchandise as they can from the warehouse shelves into an oversized shopping cart – in just 60 seconds. The average value of the haul collected by each of last year’s credit union dashers was approximately $5,000 and included high-end items such as MacBook Airs, TVs, game systems, cookware, Go-Pros, iPad Minis and more.
