Winner Of 2016 ‘CUaware Protégé’ Is Named

COLUMBIA, S.C. and RALEIGH, N.C.—Paul Narcisse was named “CUaware Protégé” during the 2016 Management Association of Carolinas Credit Unions Conference in Asheville, N.C.

Narcisse will serve for one year as dual-state spokesperson for rising professionals and the opportunities credit unions provide them. Narcisse, who is a card fraud and loss analyst for Coastal Federal Credit Union, will have a position on the CUaware Council, with additional opportunities for outreach to be coordinated by CUaware, according to the organization.

Narcisse was selected based on a combination of scores on a standard exam and on his presentation during the finals competition at the MACCU Conference. All finalists’ presentations were judged by a panel that included SPC Credit Union President/CEO Linda Weatherford, Google Senior Solution Architect Loren Hudziak, and Champion Credit Union Regional Branch Manager Karen Knowlton.

“The credit union professionals that take on the challenge of participating in this program have proven to be some of the most exemplary and passionate young professionals I’ve come across since the league started this program years ago,” said Courtney Jackson, the Carolinas’ Credit Union League’s director of communications and co-coordinator of the CUaware Protégé programs. “Each year, they raise the bar even higher with their proven knowledge of the movement and genuine interest in the topics related to this industry. I look forward to seeing where the future takes them.”

“It was amazing to be a part of an experience I will treasure for a lifetime,” said Narcisse. “Participating in this helped me realize that public speaking is something I am actually great at and now. I will pursue it more as I progress in my career. I am looking forward to going to SRCUS in Georgia and take what I learn there to add value to my credit union and my career.”

Narcisse, along with first runner-up Carrie Young of SAFE FCU and second runner-up Ashlee McClure Hoff of SC FCU will choose from these developmental scholarships:

  • Southeast CUNA Management School – One-year registration, valued at more than $1,300 (requires commitment to three-year program)
  • NYIB Annual Conference – Registration and lodging, valued at $1,300
  • CCUL Hike the Hill (Washington) – Full participation including airfare and lodging, valued at $1,000
