Wings Credit Union in NIL Deal With Miss Hockey in Minnesota

APPLE VALLEY, Minn.–Wings Credit Union has signed Minnesota's 2023 Miss Hockey to a name, image and likeness (NIL) deal.

The credit union has entered into the agreement with Ella Boerger, a hockey player at the University of St. Thomas, who will “serve as a catalyst for promoting the credit union's new Tommie debit card,” Wings said.

Boerger will appear in photos and videos to promote the credit union on her social media accounts.

"I am really excited about this partnership with Wings Credit Union, because of how much they support Tommie athletics,” Boerger said in a released statement. “I share in their passion to be involved in the community and of course, to promote women's ice hockey.”

Named Best Female Hockey Player

Boerger was named last year 2023 Miss Hockey, an award given to the best senior female hockey high school player in the state each year. The deal between Boerger and Wings Credit Union was brokered by Augusta, Maine-based Pliable, a marketing company that represents 35 high school and college athletes across the country.

The $8.8-billion Wings is the official banking partner of Tommie sports.

‘The Next Step’

"Wings Credit Union is excited to work with student athletes like Ella as a next step in our partnership,” John Wagner, SVP-member experience, said in a statement. “We believe that these name-image-likeness agreements will be beneficial for both the student athletes and for Wings by harnessing the reach of each of our unique audiences to get the word out about Wings and drive additional exposure for these outstanding Tommie athletes.”
