SHERMAN, Texas–Louella Williams is celebrating 45 years at Texoma Educators Credit Union.
Williams, CEO of the $95-million CU, was hired in 1974 as assistant manager before moving into the top spot.
Asked by the Cornerstone Credit Union League about what drives her ambition, Williams said, “That anyone in America can be successful. It may take us a little longer, but we should never accept a 'no.' I love being the go-to person to make someone’s life easier, whether it’s financial, spiritual, counseling, or family.”
The Cornerstone league said Williams’ friendly, casual demeanor has become a trademark of Texoma Educators FCU over the years, and she maintains an open-door policy for all.
In addition to her work at the credit union, Williams also serves on the board of Goodwill Industries North Texas, where she is treasurer, and has also served on the Veterans Affairs Advisory Board, Cornerstone Credit Union Legislative and Regulatory Advisory Council, and many other boards.
The CCUL noted that while heading the credit union, Williams also pursued her education, and while going to school on a part-time basis earned bachelor's and master's degrees. She also graduated from Southwest CUNA Management School.
Active in Church
Moreover, Williams graduated August 2016 from The United Methodist Course of Study and has a part-time position as pastor at Virginia Point United Methodist Church in Savoy, Texas.
According to the Cornerstone league, Williams has set a goal of reaching the $100 million asset mark and is looking forward to seeing it through.
“Exciting times are ahead in the credit union world, and I want to see the changes and continue in the field I love,” Williams told the CCUL.
Prior to joining Texoma Educators FCU, Williams worked as a manager for four years at Denison City Employees Credit Union.
