Will CUs Follow Facebook’s Lead in Adding New Exec Position?

MENLO PARK, Calif.–Will some credit unions be following Facebook’s lead in adding a new position to their management ranks? The answer likely depends on asset size and how much of a permanent effect the coronavirus pandemic has on workforce policies.

The social media giant is now seeking a director of remote work as it has announced it will allow most of its 52,000 employees to work from home should they choose to do so on a permanent basis.

“Facebook is taking a thoughtful and measured approach to the future of work at Facebook, including committing to remote work as one of our long-term strategies,” the company said. “We're seeking a director, remote work to lead this strategy and partner with an extensive group of cross-functional partners to make this shift to the way we design our organizations and grow our people. The director of remote work will be a strategic thinker who understands distributed and virtual teams, an outstanding relationship builder, and a change agent. Our ideal candidate is someone who can collaboratively build on, and evolve our remote workforce strategy with a passion and proven acumen for experience design, process excellence and change management.”

Other Attributes Sought

In addition to at least 15 years in human resources, Facebook said it is also seeking someone who can lead a highly cross-functional team of leaders, someone who can drive a company-wide shift toward remote-first ways of working, and someone who can partner with its People Analytics & Workforce Strategy team on a robust reporting and analytics capability to help drive key insights and decision making to support its remote workforce program.
