Whopping $750,000 Raised For Credit Unions For Kids

PORTLAND, Ore.—A consortium of credit unions, corporate sponsors, CU members and celebrities have helped to raise a whopping $757,837 in support of Credit Unions for Kids (CU4K), benefitting Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals.

The fundraising efforts culminated with the recent Dave & Dan Classic golf tournament.

“Heritage Sponsors First Tech Federal Credit Union and OnPoint Community Credit Union, and the entire Oregon and southwest Washington credit union community, really outdid themselves at this year’s Dave & Dan Classic. The event is unprecedented among CU4Kids golf tournaments and is one of the top single-day fundraising events among all our corporate partners,” remarked Joe Dearborn, senior director, CMN Hospitals.

Formerly known as the “Hank and Moose Open,” the tournament has raised more than $4.1 million over the last 15 years. This year’s tournament proceeds will benefit the following CMN Hospitals: Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (Portland, Ore.), Sacred Heart Medical Center (Eugene, Ore.), Seattle Children’s Hospital (Seattle), Children’s Hospital Oakland (Oakland), UC Davis Children’s Hospital (Sacramento, Calif.), and Children’s Hospital Colorado (Aurora, Colo.).

“It’s heartwarming to see the credit union community band together to support our local children’s hospitals and help ensure that every child receives the future they deserve,” stated Greg Mitchell, First Tech president and CEO. “Year after year, we continue to raise record amounts and could not have done it without the support of our corporate sponsors, credit unions, volunteers and friends of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.”

The tournament took place at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Oregon. Named after NFL Hall of Fame Inductees Dave Wilcox and Dan Fouts, this year’s event featured 28 celebrity guests including fellow Pro Football Hall of Famers Ronnie Lott, Mel Renfro and Kellen Winslow.

Top Dave & Dan Classic sponsors include OnPoint Community Credit Union, MasterCard, CO-OP Financial Services, PSCU, Fiserv, CU Direct Corporation, CUNA Mutual Group, Crowe Horwath, CSCU and FIS. Other partners included Advantis Credit Union, iQ Credit Union, Raymond James Financial, R/West, TCF National Bank, The Standard, Visa, and many other organizations that share the credit union movement’s commitment to children’s health.
