White Paper On ‘Tale of Two Accountings’ Is Published

DENVER–CU Service Network has published a new white paper titled “Tale of Two Accountings: How One Credit Union Outsourced Its Daily Processing and Received Unexpected Benefits.”

The white paper examines the $350-million Sooper Credit Union, which is part of the CUSO CU Service Network. Sooper CU has been outsourcing its daily accounting to the CUSO for two years.

In 2014, Sooper CU began considering making the move as it went through a DP conversion to CUProdigy. CU Service Network’s accounting product specialized in CUProdigy conversions.

As the white paper notes, the move allowed Sooper CU staff to “focus on the bigger fish while we were doing more routine items.”

Another unexpected benefit of outsourcing daily processing: disaster recovery, according to the white paper.

“CU Service Network’s success in their outsourced accounting service wouldn’t be possible without backup and redundancy,” the white paper states.

The white paper adds that a key component of the success in outsourcing is communication.
