MADISON, Wis.—The CUNA Lending Council has published a new white paper, “Loans Through a Strategic Lens: How Lending Executives Inspire Big-Picture Thinking and Execution.”
“As the credit union’s primary source of revenue, lending is a natural strategic nucleus, which puts the chief lending officer and other lending executives at the forefront in fostering strategic thinking and execution across the organization,” the council stated.
The council added that the white paper explores effective tactics to achieve that end by:
- Adopting and modeling key elements of strategic thinking
- Empowering mid-level managers with a strategic charge
- Facilitating high-level conversations
- Developing the business acumen of their lending teams
“By continually reinforcing the central role of lending as a strategic imperative, lending leaders can help their credit union develop a more agile approach to identifying and responding to challenges in an ever-shifting competitive landscape and opportunities to become their members’ go-to source for loans,” the council said.
