WAKEFIELD, Mass.–Discussion surrounding the Oct. 1 EMV liability shift has been dominated by whether credit unions will be ready, how many merchants will meet the deadline, and even whether there will be sufficient card stock for the new chip cards.
But Odyssey Merchant Services is also reminding financial institutions to upgrade their branch cash advance POS devices in advance of that same deadline.
“While the merchant community is beginning to seriously address their point-of-sale environment, many banks and credit unions have not yet considered the need to ensure their branch cash advance services are EMV-chip capable,” the company said.
Odyssey Merchant Services said that it, for instance, has been offering credit unions upgraded OMS-owned POS devices at no expense, as well as tokenized and encrypted transaction processing to improve security and reduce PCI compliance risk.
“Our service structure, pricing philosophy and client-centered solutions are designed around how community banks and credit unions handle their customers and members,” said CEO Ted Keith, noting that each business customer can receive a free 30-minute IT consultation if needed for PCI compliance and that each financial institution and business customer is assigned a dedicated account representative.
