LONDON—In the not-too-distant future people will be able to bend and twist their phones into different shapes and even different types of devices, say analysts who are calling the prototype a cross between a Rubik’s Cube and a smartphone.
According to a report from Vocativ.com, Cubimorph is a modular device that could let users convert their phones into other electronic devices, and reshape what might be a flat rectangle into other shapes, while retaining the function of the screen.
Voactive.com said the device is made of a modular chain of interconnected cubes that create a modular touchscreen.
“Think Lego blocks that are screens on all sides. The device uses a hinge-mounted turntable mechanism allowing the user configure all kinds of shapes,” reported Vocativ.com. “Cubimorph’s developers believe the device could be commercially available within 15 years.”
