PASADENA, Calif.–Wescom Credit Union said it has entered into a multi-year deal that makes it “The Official Financial Institution of UCLA Athletics.”
Terms of the sponsorship were not released. UCLA has 25 different athletic teams and plays its home football games at the iconic Rose Bowl.
According to UCLA, the partnership will include co-branded fan experience enhancements, increased awareness of Wescom throughout the Rose Bowl and Pauley Pavilion (home to basketball games and other events), and a presenting sponsorship of The Den, UCLA’s official student group. Additionally, Wescom will work with UCLA Athletics' Academic and Student Services team to develop, manage and enhance financial literacy programming for the nearly 700 student-athletes at UCLA, the university said.
“We are excited to partner with this iconic institution. Wescom has a long-standing tradition of collaborative efforts that allow us to build relationships throughout Southern California,” said Darren Williams, Wescom president and CEO, in a released statement. “The partnership with UCLA Athletics provides an opportunity to offer additional benefits to Wescom members and get the word out about the value Wescom and credit union membership has to offer Southern Californians.”
As part of its strategy for building relationships with UCLA students, faculty and alumni, Wescom also said it will open a branch in Westwood close to the UCLA campus. Additionally, Wescom will plan special activities during UCLA athletic and student events, including the further extension of its #WescomKindness campaign.
“Wescom has developed a comprehensive plan in its partnership with UCLA Athletics to raise awareness of the benefits they provide to Southern California communities, develop relationships with UCLA student-athletes, fans and alumni, increase credit union membership, and give Wescom members the opportunity to benefit from the partnership,” said Paul Engl, general manager of IMG Los Angeles, which markets sponsorship rights for UCLA, in a released statement. “We’re excited to bring a host of creative assets to connect Wescom with Bruin fans in LA and nationwide.”
