Wescom CU Reports Expanded FOM Now Open to Potential Market of 27 Million

PASADENA, Calif. —Following its merger with Central Coast Credit Union, Wescom Credit Union said it has officially added eight Southern California counties to its field of membership, and will now serve an additional 13 counties in California.

The $6-billion Wescom said its field of membership now includes a region that spans from the border with Mexico in the south, north to the northern San Joaquin Valley, just below the Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay areas. In all, membership in Wescom is now open to close to 27.7 million Californians, representing more than 70% of the California population, the credit union said.

The credit union has approximately 225,000 members.

Chartered in 1934, Wescom noted it had long been serving Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Imperial, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, including the UCLA community. In addition, it is now open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, Mariposa, Monterey, San Benito, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz, Stanislaus and Tulare counties in California.

‘Next Stage of Growth’

“By expanding our field of membership in an adjacent market, we are able to serve more Californians and make a positive impact in additional communities,” President and CEO Darren Williams said in a statement. “We are looking forward to this next stage of growth which aligns perfectly with our mission to exceed expectations in everything we do through innovative products and services.”
