Webinar to Examine ‘Ukraine’s Credit Unions: Two Years Later’

MADISON, Wis.–The Worldwide Credit Union Foundation will host a webinar titled “Ukraine's Credit Unions: Two Years Later” on June 26. The reference, of course, is to the war with Russia and the effect it has had on the country, its citizens and its credit unions.

The webinar will begin at 11 a.m. ET.

“When many financial institutions retreat during times of crisis, credit unions worldwide keep their doors open—serving members and communities as financial first responders during times of greatest need,” WOCCU stated. “Project Storm Break, Worldwide Foundation for Credit Union’s (WFCU) disaster relief initiative, has been a major source of assistance for the international credit union system, distributing more than $3 million in relief and resiliency aid since 2010.”

The webinar will feature Project Storm Break staff and grant beneficiaries “sharing both success stories and updates on one of Project Storm Break's most impactful grant programs to date,” the organization said.

The Presentations

It said the webinar will feature presentations:

  • Articulating the needs of Ukraine’s credit unions in year three of Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country.
  • Sharing the impact of WFCU’s Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund, which has raised more than $1.8 million for credit union grant programs since February 2022.
  • Providing an overview of Project Storm Break, its grant qualifications, processes and current programs.

The Presenters

This webinar will feature presentations from:

  • Mike Reuter, president, WFCU
  • Viacheslav Vytiuk, CEO, PVKS Credit Union in Ukraine
  • Alisa Stetsyshyn, grant management consultant, WFCU in Ukraine
