TINTON FALLS, N.J.–Two sons of Leo Ardine, the CEO at United Teletech Financial FCU, are walking across the United States to raise funds and awareness for restaurant workers who continue to suffer financial hardships due to the pandemic.
“Just two brothers sleeping in a tent for five months, showering when possible, documenting and sharing their stories from the road, and hopefully not succumbing to exposure or dehydration,” said Alloya Corporate FCU, which is helping to raise awareness of the people-helping-people effort.
Aiden and Louis Ardine began their coast-to-coast voyage from Asbury Park, N.J., and plan to walk 3,145 miles to over five months.
“Aiden and Louis, who are former service industry workers themselves, are covering their own expenses through the months-long journey to ensure all funds raised will benefit their non-profit partner, Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation (RWCF),” according to Alloya Corporate.
‘Watch Out for Them’
While donations are always appreciated to help further the impact of the Ardine brothers’ voyage, Leo Ardine said what he is seeking most does not cost a dime: watchful eyes and welcoming lawns.
“They are tenting out most nights each week and sometimes finding a safe place is a challenge,” said Leo Ardine. “We have a good network in the mid-Atlantic, but find we are gapped a little in the Midwest. More than anything, we just need people to be watching out for them.”
