BENTONVILLE, Ark.—Catering to consumers’ increasing demands for speedy service, Walmart is now allowing customers approved for a Walmart credit card to use their card before it even arrives in the mail.
The Walmart Pay feature of the company’s mobile app allows consumers to use new credit card immediately, both online and in stores, Nerd Wallet reported.
To access the new line of credit, consumers set up a Walmart online account. They then add temporary shopping pass credentials, which are provided when they’re approved for the card, to Walmart Pay. Consumers need to update Walmart Pay again when the physical card arrives, Nerd Wallet explained.
The app works with iOS or Android phones. Consumers can load all major credit, debit, prepaid or Walmart gift cards onto Walmart Pay. To make a purchase in a store, they simply use their phone to scan a QR code that appears at the register.
Walmart credit cards earn 3% cash back on purchases at the walmart.com website, 2% on purchases from Murphy USA and Walmart gas stations, and 1% cash back on all other purchases, including those in Walmart stores, Nerd Wallet added.
