VyStar Says ‘Notable Progress’ Being Made in Restoring Online Banking Services; To Stop ‘Proactively’ Waiving Fees

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.–VyStar Credit Union reports it continues to make “notable progress” in restoring service to its online banking platform, and that it will no longer be “proactively refunding” fees that resulted from the outage effective this week.

VyStar’s online and mobile banking platforms originally went down on  May 14 during a conversion to Nymbus, its new provider and a CUSO in which VyStar has invested $20 million. The credit union has been racing to restore service ever since, facing thousands of member complaints, regulator scrutiny and media coverage in the process.

It has also been named in a potential class action suit over the issue.

In a new update to members, VyStar said that in addition to the internal transfer capability announced on June 6, additional transaction detail is now available. For new transactions that appear within the online banking system, members can now see transaction details such as the merchant's name with city and state (when these details are provided by merchants).

“We hope to announce progress on the re-launch of our mobile app soon,” said VyStar CU, which had expanded branch hours—including on Sundays at some branches—when its systems were down. “In the meantime, some of our members have been surprised to learn that you can access our Online Banking platform on your mobile devices and tablets as well as your computers. Just log-in to online.vystarcu.org through your computer or mobile internet browser (e.g., Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.).”

VyStar said that within online banking, members can now:

  • View account balance and recent transactions
  • Complete most internal transfers
  • Complete external transfers
  • Schedule and pay bills
  • Send money to friends and family using Zelle

Fee Refund Change

VyStar said that it proactively refunded/is refunding fees that it charged members from May 14 through June 9 as a result of the online and mobile banking conversion, but as of June 10 it  will not do so.
