VyStar CU Signs On With Community Spark Program to Train MSRs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.–VyStar Credit Union here has become the latest CU to join the Community Spark Program, a training program for member services specialists that was developed by the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation (SECUF), the charitable arm of The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates).

The Community Spark Program is a six-week online course that is tuition-free that aims to equip students with an “in-depth understanding of credit unions, call centers, account management, and online banking,” according to the Foundation.

In addition, during the six-week internship phase participants are given hands-on experience to refine their skills through the partner credit unions.

‘Aligns With Purpose’

"VyStar Credit Union is truly honored to be part of SECUF's Community Spark Program,” said VyStar President/CEO Brian Wolfsburg in a statement. “Its mission perfectly aligns with our purpose of improving the lives of our members, our employees, and the places we call home. We eagerly look forward to welcoming new talented team members and showcasing our incredible work here at VyStar as we serve our valued members."

The $13.5-billion VyStar has more than 900,000 members.

“The Florida Community Spark Program is committed to promoting diversity and equity within the credit union industry,” the SECUF said. “By providing training to unemployed and underemployed individuals, the program aims to cultivate the necessary skills for successful careers in credit unions while actively breaking down employment barriers through intentional recruitment and establishing robust support structures.”

Members of Advisory Council

SECUF credited its Advisory Council members for guiding the Community Spark Program, including Allie Braswell from VyStar Credit Union, Mary McDonald from Suncoast Credit Union, and Hollie Maddox from Envision Credit Union.
