Virtual Event to Offer HR Professionals Update on COVID-19 Regulations, Safety Protocols

WASHINGTON–Human resources professionals within credit unions will have the opportunity to learn more about regulatory changes stemming from COVID-19 and how to better protect workers’ rights in addition to the health and safety of members and staff alike during a new virtual meeting, according to CUNA.

The CUNA HR Compliance Rule Changes Virtual Conference has now been announced for July 28 and 30. It has been endorsed by the CUNA HR & Organizational Development Council.

This conference will include six 45-minute sessions that will cover the latest regulatory changes related to the current pandemic and their impact on credit union policies, CUNA said. Question and answer sessions with subject matter experts in credit union HR compliance and “fellow attendees facing the same challenges are built in to provide real-world takeaways.”

According to CUNA, key regulations covered will include:

  • Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA)
  • Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES)
  • Family and Medical leave Act (FMLA)
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

‘Unprecedented’ New Compliance
"An unprecedented number of HR-related requirements and guidance documents have been issued in the past several months,” says Jared Ihrig, chief compliance officer & counsel at CUNA. “Credit unions are working incredibly hard to process the impact of these issuances and to create the internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance while fully supporting their members and staff, but this will remain an ongoing challenge.”

CUNA Credit Union HR Compliance Professional (CUHRCP) designees will qualify for recertification by completing this conference.
