LYNCHBURG, Va.—The Virginia CU league has introduced Smart Credit Check, which it is describing as a collaborative project that seeks to educate members on the importance of monitoring their own credit scores.
Run by the league’s Credit Cares Foundation subsidiary, the ongoing campaign will help CUs boost their image as a trusted financial resource, and develop additional business, the league stated on its website.
“Because it is a coordinated collaborative effort of the Credit Union Cares Foundation, statistics can be collected from all participating credit unions to demonstrate the impact of the campaign itself and to seek potential funding for growing the project’s visibility and service offerings,” the league explained.
Smart Credit Check consists of three downloadable tool kits:
- The Educational Tool Kit provides content for teaching members and potential new members about how to pull their credit report safely and how to make sense of it.
- The Marketing and Public Relations Tool Kit delivers templates of marketing and advertising material for the credit union to identify itself as a “Smart Credit Check” credit union.
- The Credit Union Enrichment Tool Kit focuses on how to implement the campaign for developing the credit union’s business—to bring in new accounts or generate loans.
