VANCOUVER, B.C.– Credit unions in British Columbia each year contribute 25 cents per member to the “Success by Six” initiative, a partnership that also includes the United Ways of BC and the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
Now, to thank credit unions for their support, a video has been created to show how 25 cents can grow to more than $3 million. The video provides an overview of the unique Success by Six Provincial Partnership in British Columbia, highlights the co-operative work being accomplished in communities across the province, and recognizes credit unions and their members for their continued support of the initiative over the past 12 years.
“In 2003, a remarkable partnership was born: leaders from United Way, the Ministry of Children and Family Development, and Credit Unions of B.C. came together with a vision to improve the lives of children across B.C. The resulting initiative – Success By Six – has benefited thousands of children in our province,” said Michael McKnight, chair of the Early Childhood Development Provincial Partnership and president and CEO of United Way of the Lower Mainland. “It’s a powerful example of what is possible when people work together.”
“Credit unions across B.C. are happy to support this important initiative every year as one of the many ways they help their communities become strong and healthy,” said Kam Raman, vice president, member relations and trade services, Central 1 Credit Union. “There are more than 1.9 million B.C. residents – one in three – who support Success by Six as credit union members and help young children thrive.
