Velera THINK24 Coverage: CMN Hospitals CEO, Young Patient Share Their Stories

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–Credit unions here were given a personal thank-you from the president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, as well as from two of its youngest beneficiaries.

Dr. Aimee Daily told the Velera THINK Conference said credit unions have now raised more than $200 million for CMN hospitals, including a record $17 million in 2023.

“This relationship and this partnership continues to grow,” said Daily. “I was introduced  as the president and CEO of CMN hospitals and that is one of the reasons I'm here, but I'm also here for another reason and that is my most coveted and my favorite title: mom.”

Dr. Aimee Daily speaking to THINK meeting.

Daily shared the story of her own two children, who are now 28 and 26, respectively, but who both spent time in hospitals as infants. Her son was born premature, and with her daughter she was hospitalized at 16 weeks and remained in the hospital for months due to the high-risk pregnancy.

72 Patients a Minute

She spoke emotionally about the tremendous support she received while in the hospital and the care that was provided.

“That is what happens inside of our 170 hospitals across the United States and Canada every single day,” Daily said. “Every minute, 72 patients walk through the doors to get treatment at one of our hospitals. They need help and because of the $200 million that you've raised they're getting that help. So, I'm here as both as CEO and as a mom to say thank you to you for everything you do.”

Joining Daily on stage was a young boy named Jesse, along with his younger sister and mother. Jesse was burned in a house fire when he was four months old, and spent months in a CMN hospital getting treatment, including skin grafts. His sister, Bella, was born prematurely.

Jesse’s mother shared his story and remained on stage to accept a $140,000 check to CMN Hospitals reflecting funds raised during the THINK conference.
