KINGSBURY, N.Y.—A vehicle crashed through the front entrance of a Hudson River Credit Union branch, prompting a law enforcement response and temporary closure of the office, according to a report by WNYT.
The crash recently occurred shortly after 4:15 a.m. at the credit union’s Burgoyne Avenue branch in Kingsbury. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responding to a building alarm found that a vehicle had struck the building and the driver had fled the scene into the surrounding area. Authorities later located and took a person of interest into custody, according to the report.
In a statement, Hudson River Credit Union said no employees, members or bystanders were inside the building at the time of the crash and no injuries were reported. The credit union also thanked local law enforcement and emergency personnel for their response and said it is cooperating with investigators while assessing damage and securing the property.
The Hudson Falls branch will remain closed until further notice, the credit union said. Members were directed to use nearby branches, phone banking services or the institution’s online and mobile banking platforms while the investigation continues.
