FRANKFURT, Germany—A new study reveals 86% of Germans are open to a Euro central bank digital currency (CBDC).
“This overwhelming support indicates a growing interest in and acceptance of digital financial innovations among the German population,” Altcoin Buzz reported, adding it also marks a pivotal point for potential monetary policy transformations in the Eurozone.
The study by Germany’s central bank shows many Germans find a Euro CBDC appealing for its blend of traditional money’s credibility and modern technology’s efficiency. The proposed digital Euro would be issued directly by the European Central Bank (ECB).
“The survey’s findings emerge as digital payments become more normalized, driven by a global shift to online transactions,” according to Altcoin Buzz. “This trend has been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The adoption of digital and contactless payment methods has surged, setting the stage for broader acceptance of a digital Euro.”
