TUCSON, Ariz. — Vantage West Credit Union said it plans to use a $1.8 million grant it won from the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund to support community credit needs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vantage West said it received the highest dollar amount possible and was one of four Arizona credit unions to receive an award. The CU said the grant will contribute to its efforts to transform its lending capabilities so it can serve more members in greatest need of assistance. Plans call for the grant funding to be deployed over the next 18-24 months.
“Throughout the pandemic, we have seen the uniqueness of each person’s financial circumstances,” said Richard Paige, director, market & product development. “As a local credit union, we recognize the importance of meeting people where they are. Vantage West is focused on providing members with solutions that address their unique needs. This CDFI grant will accelerate and enhance our ability to do so.”
Vantage West has been a CDFI certified lender since 2018.
