HONOLULU–University of Hawai`i Federal Credit Union is providing support to members who have been affected by flooding across several islands.
With the possibility of hundreds of families being impacted and with effects felt for months or even years, UHFCU said it has offered a special, low-rate loan for up to $25,000, 60 days of no payments, and same-day funds for qualifying members. The credit union said it is also offering affected members temporary relief on existing loans.
“All of us were stunned by the power of these rains and moved by the damage inflicted on so many people. Just as with Hurricane Iniki, UHFCU has always been there to provide financial assistance when there have been natural disasters in our community,” said UHFCU President and CEO Travis Bow. “Considering the scope of the damage to our Islands as well as the constrained resources many families face, it is critical that we offer assistance in this time of urgent need.”
