LOS ANGELES––University Credit Union continues to expand its tie-ins to universities and athletic programs, having just announced a new partnership with the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), while also renewing a deal it has with Loyola Marymount University.
The $1.18-billion credit union said it has become the official financial services partner of the WAC, which it said will give it the “opportunity to continue support for the success of college athletics and academics, as well as provide a financial advantage to all campus members including students, staff, faculty, alumni, and retirees of university communities across the United States.”
Additional Partnerships
In addition to the WAC, University Credit Union partners with several NCAA Division I conferences and individual campuses in the western U.S., including UCLA, Pepperdine University, Loyola Marymount University, Santa Clara University, Saint Mary's College of California, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC San Diego, Mount St. Mary's University, Chabot College and Las Positas College, West Coast Conference, The Big West, and other universities throughout the United States.
According to University CU, the multiyear partnership with the conference will give it a presence at WAC events and marketing channels throughout the year and kick off with University Credit Union as the title sponsor of both the 2023 WAC Baseball Tournament and the 2023 WAC Softball Tournament this May.
“University Credit Union is honored to partner with the WAC,” David Tuyo, CEO & president of University Credit Union, said. “This partnership will provide better financial services and education to give WAC alumni, staff, and university community a financial advantage on campus and beyond. University Credit Union looks forward to serving and being an integral part of the WAC family.”
Partnering With Lions
In addition, UCU said it has extended a multiyear partnership with Loyola Marymount University (LMU) to provide continuing support for “the success of college academics and athletics in California, as well as provide a financial advantage to all campus members including students, staff, faculty, alumni, and retirees of the LMU community.”
The partnership between UCU and LMU was first established in 1993 and has “helped advance the integration of the entire community by providing funding for campus improvements, athletic initiatives, and increasing access to financial literacy programs and workshops,” the credit union said.
The partnership extension was made official on a signing day that celebrated the long-standing relationship between UCU and LMU, University CU added.
UCU and LMU collaborate on a variety of programs, such as branded Lions Rewards Credit Cards, Food Pantry drives, half-court shot for tuition, and other sponsorship and donation initiatives.
