CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—UVA Community CU here is partnering with Wooden Sun, a provider of hearth and patio accessories and services, to offer low-interest loans on biomass stoves, fireplaces, fireplaces and inserts.
According to the two organizations, the initiative and partnership were developed as a result of the of the PowerSaver Loan Program, a multi-year pilot program from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offering low-cost financing for energy-efficient home improvements.
The UVA Community Credit Union is one of 18 lenders selected to participate. With the PowerSaver Loans the Federal Housing Authority is providing mortgage insurance and other incentives to lenders to help lower costs to homeowners. PowerSaver Loans offer qualified homeowners up to $25,000 to make energy-efficient improvements of their choice.
