NASHVILLE, Tenn.–US Community Credit Union has been approved for a community charter expansion by NCUA.
The expanded community charter will allow the credit union to begin offering services beyond its five-county charter to include nine additional counties throughout Middle Tennessee.
USCCU will now be able to offer membership and serve persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in and business and other legal entities located in Davidson, Rutherford, Wilson, Sumner, Williamson, Cannon, Cheatham, Dickson, Hickman, Macon, Maury, Robertson, Smith and Trousdale counties. Members of the immediate family or household members may also be members of the credit union.
The credit union noted in 2016, former Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam challenged credit unions to find a way to better serve the rural counties of Tennessee. These rural counties are lacking some of the most basic necessities, including access to a reliable financial institution, USCCU said.
“Knowing this, USCCU made it a strategic goal to bring USCCU services to as many counties as possible throughout the state of Tennessee,” the credit union said. “Credit unions are founded on the concept of people helping people – and USCCU is dedicated to providing Tennesseans with basic financial services, helping them reach their financial goals, and giving them access to budget counseling and loan options. Where they live should not be a limiting factor.”
Excited About Expansion
“We are very excited about this expansion,” US Community Credit Union President/CEO Paul Johnson said. “We are now able to not only bring our products and services to these areas, but also our core values and exceptional service to the residents of these counties.”
USCCU said it will soon be hosting pop-up branches throughout the nine new counties to introduce the Credit Union to county residents.
The $215-million US Community Credit Union has approximately 27,700 members.
