ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The $1.4-billion U.S. Eagle FCU has introduced a unique checking benefit and offer for members—pet insurance.
Through June 30, with every checking account opened that includes the pet insurance benefit, the CU will also make a donation to Animal Humane New Mexico, an Albuquerque-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports and improves the lives of New Mexico’s cats and dogs through sheltering, adoptions, humane education and veterinary services.
“U.S. Eagle is thrilled to provide our members with preferred rates on pet insurance. When their pets become ill or hurt, our members can receive financial support necessary to make the right decisions for themselves and their pet’s quality of life,” said Marsha Majors, president and CEO of U.S. Eagle FCU. “As Animal Humane supports and improves the lives of animals throughout the state, we are honored to make a financial donation to the nonprofit on behalf of our members that enroll in pet insurance. Being the first credit union in New Mexico to offer this benefit, it is part of our ‘people mean more’ philosophy by improving the quality of life in the communities we serve.”
“We are excited to partner with U.S. Eagle Credit Union and help inform New Mexicans about the advantages of investing in insurance for their pets,” said Val Wilson, executive director of Animal Humane New Mexico. “From animals in good health to those that are aging, pet insurance can be beneficial in supporting the care of owned pets, which improves the health of our entire community of dogs and cats. Guardians can tailor the coverage to fit the needs of their pets, which can make a difference in the wellbeing of their beloved companions.”
U.S. Eagle Credit Union’s pet insurance is provided through Carefree Pet, a pet care savings program that includes access to affordable pet insurance through MetLife Pet Insurance. The benefit also includes ID tags linked to Pet Cloud where members can store additional information about their pets, 24/7 virtual pet care, discounts on pet medication, warranty protection for damage from pets on home items, and more. Members using their pet insurance can visit any licensed veterinarian in the country, without breed or age restrictions, the CU said.
