Two Wisconsin Credit Unions Announce Merger Plans

KENOSHA, Wis.—The $10-million Kenosha City Employees CU here announced it intends to merge into $450-million Blackhawk Community Credit Union of Janesville, Wis. KCECU will become a sub-brand of Blackhawk Community.

KCECU membership voted unanimously at a special meeting to approve the merger.

“Our objective in finding a merger partner is to create long-term benefits to our members,” said Kimberly Granger, president of Kenosha City Employees CU. “Blackhawk puts our members first and has respect for the history of our organization.”

Kenosha City Employees Credit Union will retain its name, staff and its location in the Kenosha Municipal Building, the Kenosha News reported.

“This merger is a partnership. We want to see Kenosha City Employees Credit Union continue to serve its membership as a part of the Blackhawk family of credit unions, and we are looking forward to expanding to the Kenosha area,” said Blackhawk CEO Sherri Stumpf in a statement.
