Two West Virginia CUs Set To Merge

PARKERSBURG, W.V.–Two West Virginia credit unions have announced plans to merge. The $16-million Wood County Community FCU said it is merging into the $187-

million West Virginia Central Credit Union, with WCCFCU members having already approved the combination.

Michael Tucker, president and CEO of WV Central, told WTAP.com that in early 2018 the board of directors at the Wood County Community FCU reached out to see if the board of directors at WV Central would consider the merger. The combined credit union will serve more than 20,000 members.

“It allows us to concentrate on our members day to day needs and so when we operate that way as a movement, as a philosophy, we’re able to truly put our hearts to work each and every day and it allows us to make a difference in our members’ lives,” Tucker told WTAP.com. “Now we’ll be able to touch additional members’ lives with the inclusion of Wood County and we’re very excited about that it gives us a bright future going forward.”
