OAK RIDGE, Tenn.–Two Tennessee credit unions have completed a merger.
ORNL Federal Credit Union has absorbed Mid East Tennessee Community Credit Union, which has branches located in Athens and Decatur, Tenn., a membership base of approximately 1,550, and $10.3 million in total assets.
The merger expands ORNL FCU’s community charter to include Meigs, McMinn, and Rhea counties in Tennessee, which are all contiguous to the credit union’s current 16 county charter area. With the merger, ORNL FCU will also acquire the two MET CCU branches that will soon re-branded to reflect the ORNL FCU brand. Current MET CCU employees will also be retained, the credit union said.
After system conversions in August, ORNL FCU said MET CCU members will have access to the full suite of mortgage and consumer loan products, deposit products, and digital services ORNL FCU offers. They will also have access to over 30,000 fee-free ATMs nationwide, as well as the 28 ORNL FCU branch offices located in East Tennessee.
