BOWIE, Md.–Two Maryland credit unions said they have completed their merger.
The $37-million Prince George’s Community Federal Credit Union and Greenbelt FCU, which are just over 10 miles apart, said they have completed their combination.
“The merger with Greenbelt Credit Union signifies a strategic move to enhance the financial services offered to the community and strengthen the credit union’s position in the region,” PGCFCU said in a statement on its website.
The statement added the newly merged entity will continue to operate independently and under separate names until further notice, with an expected integration date later in 2024.

“As interim manager of Greenbelt Federal Credit Union, I am incredibly pleased to join forces with another institution committed to empowering the financial wellbeing of its members,” said Nicole Velasquez, interim manager of Greenbelt FCU, in a statement. “The combination of business and personal financial solutions, commitment to customer service, and devotion to community will only bring value to the residents of Greenbelt.”
