DUBOIS, Penn.—Two credit union have named new CEOs.
In Pennsylvania, Timberland FCU has named a new president and CEO. The credit union has selected Joel Slagan to lead the organization, citing his “exceptional leadership skills, deep knowledge of credit unions and proven track record of execution and operational excellence.”
Slagan was formerly EVP with TFCU and prior to that served as chief operations officer.
“Timberland FCU has established itself within the communities of DuBois and Clearfield,” said Board Chair Dave Volpe. “TFCU also doubled its branches to serve the Philipsburg and Pleasant Gap communities under Joel’s leadership and I am extremely proud of all that he conquered as well as his many contributions to the credit union over the last five and a half years. Joel’s appointment to CEO is well deserved and I look forward to serving many more years on the board with him at the helm.”
Added Slagan, “I am honored to be named CEO of Timberland FCU. I am even more honored to work alongside great executives that I know are just as eager to build a great staff and deliver innovative solutions for our members. I am committed to strengthening the communities we serve.”
Other Efforts Continue
In a statement announcing the change, the $68-million TFCU said it will continue to research technology while finding products to better suit its members. In the last year, Timberland reported it has launched an all new branded mobile app, mobile deposit and revamped its website.
Slagan is a veteran of the United State Navy, including two tours in Iraq.
Prior to joining Timberland, he worked for the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association from 2006 until leaving in 2014 as its director of audit services.
New CEO in Maryland
Separately, Greenbelt Federal Credit Union in Greenbelt, Md., has named David Muse as its new chief executive officer, effective Monday, Oct. 15.
Muse’s has more than 10 years of operations experience and is joining Greenbelt FCU from Department of Labor Federal Credit Union in Washington, where he served as chief operating officer/BSA compliance officer. He was responsible for leading branch operations, including retail operations, lending, marketing, vendor management, audit, compliance, and strategic partnerships. In this position, Muse led the lending evolution program, resulting in a sales-to-service model for member service representatives, which improved member satisfaction, products per member, and cross-selling by frontline staff, the credit union said.
Credit Union Resources conducted the executive search for the $32-million credit union.
