Two More Speakers Added to Congressional Caucus Agenda

ARLINGTON, Va.—Craig Phillips, counselor to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) have joined the list of speakers at NAFCU's Congressional Caucus, Sept. 11-14 in Washington.

Craig Phillips

Caucus is NAFCU's premiere lobbying event of the year and allows credit unions to meet face to face with lawmakers and regulators on industry-specific issues.

At Treasury, Phillips assists on issues relating to domestic finance, housing finance policy and regulatory reform. NAFCU met with Phillips in January to discuss housing finance reform and has shared with the Treasury Department – and in a meeting with Mnuchin – the association's core principles for housing financial reform.

Gonzalez serves on the House Financial Services Committee. He, along with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) and Rep. Paul Cook (R-CA), introduced a bill last year to exclude veterans' loans from the statutory credit union member business loan cap.

NAFCU's Congressional Caucus will be headlined by Bob Woodward, who broke the Watergate scandal and is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and associate editor of the Washington Post, and Major Garrett, CBS News' chief White House correspondent.

NAFCU's Congressional Caucus is open to both members and nonmembers; registration is still open.
