Two More CUs Announce Fundraisers, Contributions for Maui Fire Victims

TAMPA, Fla.–Two more credit unions have announced efforts to raise funds for victims of the wildfires in Maui.

Saying it lives the credit union motto of people helping people even if the people are 4,000 miles away, USF FCU has made a contribution to relief efforts.

“We know the importance of credit unions collaborating to provide vital financial services to communities near and far in need”, said USF FCU CEO and President Richard J. Skaggs, “We're proud to announce our contribution of $5,000 to aid credit unions impacted by the Maui fires through the National Credit Union Foundation and the Hawaii Credit Union League. Our donation is a small step towards helping our colleagues in Maui begin to rebuild and serve their members in this time of need.”

SAFE Raising Funds

Separately, in Sumter, S.C., SAFE FCU said it has launched a donation drive in response to the wildfires. From Aug. 25-28, SAFE FCU is inviting members and non-members to contribute at any of SAFE’s 18 branches or by donating online at www.SAFEfed.org.

“We understand the impact and importance of extending a helping hand to those affected by the Maui Wildfires,” said President and CEO Michael Baker. “Through this donation drive, with the help of our community, we aim to give hope to the residents who need it most in Maui.”

All funds collected during the donation drive are tax-deductible and will go to the Valley Isle Chapter of the Hawaii Credit Union League. For donations made at a SAFE branch, contributors will receive a colorful Hawaiian Lei for every donation of $10 or more while supplies last.
