MADISON, Wis.–Two major summer conferences for credit unions have now been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
CUNA and the World Council of Credit Unions have called of their combined meeting, “World Moving: A Joint Credit Union Conference, which was set to take place July 19-22 in Los Angeles.
CUNA said the registration fee, including tour and guest registration, will be fully refunded to attendees, and attendees are being reminded to resolve their travel and lodging reservations accordingly. Visit worldmoving.org for additional information.
Separately, NAFCU has canceled its 53rd Annual Conference and Solutions Expo, scheduled to take place June 23-26 in Vancouver, Canada.
NAFCU said registered attendees have been notified of the cancellation via email, which contains additional information on how to transfer conference registrations or obtain a refund, and how to proceed with canceling hotel and flight reservations.

“Although the conference has been canceled, NAFCU's Annual Business Meeting will still take place in June at the association's headquarters in Arlington, Va., and via a virtual format. More details will be sent to members soon,” NAFCU said.
NAFCU added it is also working to develop webinars and other digital educational opportunities on session topics.
CUNA Announces New School
Separately, CUNA said registration is now open for CUNA Putting Empathy into Action During a Pandemic eSchool (free to CUNA members) set for Tuesday and Thursday 1-hour sessions, April 28-May 7. In this new eSchool, presented with the National Credit Union Foundation, credit union professionals will learn to nurture meaningful relationships with staff, co-workers and members by exploring what empathy looks like and how to put it into practice, CUNA said.
According to CUNA, attendees will explore key leadership lessons from credit union history to navigate relationships through the current crisis and beyond.

- Living Through a Pandemic, In Someone Else’s Shoes
- Avoiding Pitfalls and Practicing Empathy for Organizations
