WASHINGTON–Two credit union-supported race events are set for this weekend.
In Washington, the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Run, often referred to as the “Runner’s Rite of Spring,” will have events on both Saturday and Sunday.
The event, which first began in 1973 with approximately 200 runners, has been sponsored by credit unions since 2002 and has in some years had more than 17,000 runners.
The events, which take place among many of Washington’s famed monuments, include a 5k on Saturday, a 10-mile race on Sunday that includes professional racers, a Kids Run and a virtual run.
Many congressional offices also have teams in the race.
A full listing of all the events can be found here.
Separately, in Sacramento, Calif., the Credit Union SacTown Run will take place on April 7.
“Since the first year in 2012, Credit Union for Kids in partnership with the Sacramento Running Association has raised nearly $2 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” organizers said. “The teamwork and camaraderie shown by California and Nevada’s credit unions, with the help of Northern California’s running community, is a huge key factor in this event’s success.”
