WETHERSFIELD, Conn.–Two credit unions have announced plans to merge.
The $21-million MiddConn FCU said its members have voted in favor of merging into the $262-million Dutch Point Credit Union. The combined CU will have 23,500 members.
“We are thrilled the members of MiddConn voted in favor of the merger and look forward to their arrival,” said Francis Proto, president and CEO of Dutch Point Credit Union. “Our credit unions truly share and are guided by the same member-first principle. With the merger, we will now have a branch presence in Middlesex county to effectively serve both MiddConn and Dutch Point members living in those towns.”
Upon completion of the merger Dutch Point will have seven community branch locations with its main office located at 195 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, Conn.
“Our shared values and commitment to our communities will allow us to continue the credit union tradition of ‘People helping People,’ said Barbara Thorpe, CEO of MiddConn FCU. “This merger is an opportunity to combine our resources resulting in an even stronger credit union that delivers more value to all its members.”
