SACRAMENTO, Calif.—The $55-million Big Valley FCU said it will merge into the $253-million First U.S. Community Credit Union effective Feb. 1, 2015. When completed, the combined CU will serve 23,000 members.
First U.S. Community was started in 1936 as a credit union for federal workers, and has had a community charter for more than a decade. Big Valley was formed in 1953 as a credit union for select employee groups, including Safeway employees and Pepsi bottlers and other food processors.
