EL CENTRO, Calif.—Sun Community FCU and Palm Springs FCU have announced plans to merge.
The $304-million Sun Community CU has 34,000 members, and will be the surviving charter. The $12.9-million Palm Springs FCU has 1,631 members, and has recently been in the news as the result of an NCUA examiner losing a flash drive containing member data. The merger is scheduled to be effective on May 1. All staff will be retained; one member of the PSFCU board will join the Sun Community CU board. Debbie Pitigliano, Palm Spring FCU’s CEO, will become regional VP.
